1912 photo postcard of Air Show, Colorado Springs CO

Great image of biplane flying over a field where spectators in cars and horse-drawn carriages have gathered.

Rare image!

I believe this is a photo from the Shan Kive event held in 1912 at the last week of August, near Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs. These gatherings were originally organized by the Ute American Indian tribe. The revived Shan Kives of 1911-12-13 were staged by the citizens of Colorado Springs to lure tourists to the area in an attempt to relieve a depressed economy.
